Tim and Jenny from Pure Mountains slogged it out for (almost) 24 hours in Madrid and they won!

24doce is Madrid's annual 24 hour race. We thought we ought to give it a go this year and entered the mixed pairs category. On a weekend in late June the weather was blistering and the usual contingent of skinny boys and girls was in attendance. After a 1200 start, the first 20 or so laps around the 9km course went very well. There were a couple of stiff climbs and some wonderful singletrack descents (good spots for passing the many technically inept speedsters).

At about 0200 the heavens opened and we saw our chance - we grew up on rainy 24 hour events after all - and we inched ahead as our rivals - well we're not sure what they did but they seemed to slow down or stop. Eventually, at about 0800 the race was cut short due to "adversas condiciones meteorológicas" and victory was ours. Hurrah!
