Bike Race Trips
We run a handful of bike race trips each year. These combine a challenging mountain bike race (usually marathon distance, so about 70 to 80 km) with a tip top bike holiday. Race dates tend to be announced at quite short notice, so please do contact us if you're interested and we'll keep you up to date.
El Ejido Mountain Bike Marathon, April 2010
An annual Spring fixture is the Ciudad de El Ejido Mountain Bike Marathon. This is a smallish, welcoming but epic race in Almería province, taking in the summit of Sierra de Gádor. MBR's Andy Waterman joined the team for the 2009 trip. You can read all about it in this article, published in February 2010's MBR magazine. Trophies are on offer in each category and all participants receive a commemorative crate of vegetables and free beer. The 2010 trip, with an all-new and technical course, runs from Friday 9 to Tuesday 13 April and includes four nights accommodation and two days guided mountain biking at the Pure Mountains farmhouse, as well as the race.
Dessafío Mountain Bike Marathon, October 2010
Win your own weight in olive oil in this mountain bike marathon! It is always a brilliantly organised race with, free lunch, a sweatshirt and a trophy for all competitors. The race organisers emphasize that it's open to all, with plenty of time for all riders to finish. The course will be hilly but the weather should be quite cool and it's guaranteed to be a great event. The 2010 trip runs from Friday 1 to Tuesday 5 October and includes four nights accommodation and two days guided mountain biking at the Pure Mountains famhouse, as well as the race.
For both of these trips, the price per person is £400/€400 including airport tansfers and race registration. If you don't need airport transfers, there is a discount of £30/€30 per person. If you are interested, please let us know as soon as possible, as the race is sure to fill up fast and numbers are limited.
