Pure Mountains Biking & Guiding

"The network of trails in the Sierra Nevada is second to none ..... You can't complain about having awsome trails to yourself, can you ?" - Mountain Bike Rider magazine

Outstanding biking” - Alun Pearson, experienced mountain biker

“..an encyclopedic knowledge of the best routes and places to stop.” - The Guardian

Our mountain bike holidays are for people who enjoy riding trails in magnificent surroundings. We tend towards cross-country biking so you won't need body armour but you will need enthusiasm for riding your bike. We offer three types of trip to ensure that you get the riding you want on your mountain biking holiday : Epic, Easy Going and Tricky Trails.

Our guides hold mountain first aid certificates and are Offroad Training Consultancy (now part of CTC Professional Mountain Bike Courses) qualified (see biographies). They tailor the rides to the experience and fitness level of each group, which is a maximum of eight riders plus guide and full Land Rover support .

Being centre-based, unlike point to point bike holidays, we are never under pressure to get to the next place regardless of weather, punctures, nightfall etc. There is always the option of getting into the Land Rover. Food, drink and spares are carried in the Land Rover, not on your back.

Living in the Sierra Nevada mountains, we know the huge variety of tracks and trails. Some are wide and gradually undulating and others are much more technical. Some are on rocky open mountainsides while others are in lush valleys. There are plenty of epic climbs and thrilling descents and, of course, miles of gorgeous singletrack.

The routes we choose depend on the makeup of the group and the weather. With rides spread out over two vertical kilometers, there are several microclimates to choose from. Other trail users are a rare sight but our guides will point out interesting birds, beasts, plants and geographical features, should you be interested.

Usually we cycle from the front door but some days there will be a short transfer to let us explore further afield.
