Pure Mountains Biking & Guiding
"The network of trails in the Sierra Nevada is second to none ..... You can't complain about having awesome trails to yourself, can you ?" - Mountain Bike Rider magazine
“Outstanding biking” - Alun Pearson, experienced mountain biker
“..an encyclopedic knowledge of the best routes and places to stop.” - The Guardian
What type of riding do we offer? With biking terminology constantly evolving, it's increasingly difficult to describe the riding, but here goes: technically and physically demanding, with endless singletrack in wildly beautiful surroundings. Does that make it cross country, all-mountain, trail riding or back country adventure? Yes. We occasionally use knee pads and we often wear lycra.
We offer two grades of trip Epic and Easy Going.
Our guides hold mountain first aid certificates and are Offroad Training Consultancy (now part of CTC Professional Mountain Bike Courses) qualified (see biographies). They tailor the rides to the experience and fitness level of each group, which is a maximum of eight riders plus guide and full Land Rover support .
The routes we choose depend on the makeup of the group and the weather. With nearly ten years experience of the area, we have built a thorough knowledge of most of the trail possibilities. Usually we cycle from the front door but some days there will be a short transfer to let us explore further afield.
Being centre-based, unlike point to point bike holidays, we are never under time pressure to get to the next place regardless of weather, punctures, nightfall etc. There is always the option of getting into the Land Rover. Food, drink and spares are carried in the Land Rover, not on your back.
