General Info about all Pure Mountains Holidays

Pure Mountains run scheduled mountain biking weeks, short weeks and long weekends all year round. The dates of the holidays are shown in the Schedule at the foot of this page. These trips are graded as Epic, Easy Going, or Tricky Trails. The idea is to provide you with a ready-made group of cyclists to ride and have fun with at a competitive price! Non-cyclists and 13 to 17 year olds are welcome and pay 65% of the holiday price.

If you are organising your own group of 4 or more we can provide trips outside the schedule to suit you at the same rates (see our Groups page). If you would like exclusive occupation of Pure Mountains, see Purely Yours.

We also run Mountain Bike Marathon TripsWinter Desert Weekends (both scheduled) and Pure Family Holidays and Pure Mountains High, the Roof of Spain (both by arrangement).

Holiday prices include everything mentioned on our Welcome page including qualified guiding, full Land Rover support, beautiful en-suite accommodation and excellent food and drink. Also included are airport transfers, but not flights.

Euro prices quoted on this website only apply to residents of the Eurozone.

Winter Trips

In the colder months, we offer a handful of special  'winter' trips, giving you the chance to get away from dreary northern climes for an exhilarating mountain biking break. These holidays are based at the cosy and welcoming Hotel los Bérchules, which is situated some 400 vertical metres lower than the famhouse. At the end of each day's cycling you can relax in front of a roaring fire and enjoy plenty of good food, wine and company.

July to September in the Mountains

High Summer is gorgeous in the high mountains and not as hot as you might think. The days are long and the warm evenings are perfect for relaxing around a barbecue in the patio. We have several trips running during these months. Also, in high summer only, for groups we offer Pure Mountains High, a holiday giving you the rare opportunity to mountain bike over the roof of Spain.

Airport Transfers and Flights

Airport transfers from Málaga are included in the price, unless otherwise shown on the Schedule.

For most trips, on the day of arrival, the free airport transfer picks up at Málaga airport at 1600, in order to allow you a choice of incoming flights. On the day of departure, the airport transfer drops at Málaga airport at 1000, to allow you the greatest choice of return flights (remember to allow for check-in time). If you are a group of four or more people, we can arrange a special, free transfer to suit your group's flights if necessary.

Flights are not included in the price. You book these yourself, allowing you to find the best deal. We are, of course, happy to help with flight booking if you would like us to.  A good place to find flights is Skyscanner.net.

If you do not need the airport transfers, we offer you a £30/€30 'no transfers' discount per person from the cost of your holiday.

If you decide to fly to Almería, Granada or Madrid we can provide you with information about transfer options from there.

Getting to Pure Mountains by Train

As part of our commitment to responsible tourism, we are keen to encourage our guests to travel by train and public transport.

It's surprisingly easy and a great holiday adventure in itself to travel from the UK to Spain by train. You can take an afternoon Eurostar from London to Paris in just 2 hours 20 minutes, then the excellent overnight trainhotel from Paris to Madrid, with onward train connections to Málaga on the high speed AVE. The trainhotel has cosy bedrooms, a restaurant and a café-bar. All the info you need is at the excellent website www.seat61.com and the Spanish railways website Renfe.

Alternatively, you could catch a ferry to Santander or Bilbao and make an exciting trip across Spain. Get in touch if this appeals and we can talk to you about possibilities.

If you arrive at Málaga station, you can join our airport transfer (subject to timings). Otherwise, you can get from Málaga to Bérchules by taxi (we can help to book this for you) or hire car. If you don't take our airport transfers you qualify for the £30/€30 'no transfers' discount.

Please ask if you need any help with planning your trip.

Getting to Pure Mountains by Car

We can provide you with detailed driving instructions to our local village if you are coming by car. You might want to hire a car if you are coming from elsewhere in Spain or if you are flying into Almería or Granada airport (both within driving distance of Pure Mountains). It is easy and economical to hire a car in Andalucía. We recommend hiring a small van eg a Citroen Berlingo or Peugeot Partner and booking with AurigaCrown Car Hire or Goldcar.

As you will not need our airport transfers, you will qualify for the £30/€30 'no transfers' discount.
