Pure Mountains / Mountain Bike Holidays / Sierra Nevada / Spain

Rest Days & Other Activities

On Pure Mountains bike holidays we go out riding every day of your holiday, except for Easy Going Weeks, where there is a day off. Of course, on any trip, you are welcome to take a day off from biking whenever you feel like it. You may want to relax in and around the farmhouse or to explore the local area. We can also arrange the following activities :

Horse Riding

Just down the way from the Pure Mountains farmhouse, Jose Miguel offers accompanied rides on his beautiful and well-schooled Andalucian horses. All standards of rider are catered for. The rides are in beautiful countryside and last from two hours to a full day. Jose Miguel speaks fluent English, Spanish and Horse. You may want to bring your own riding hat / helmet as most Spanish riders don't wear hard hats.

Walking

We can provide you with maps and suggested routes for walking in the area. There are some beautiful tracks which are inaccessible by bike but passable on foot.

Skiing

In the Winter/Spring months downhill skiing is available at the resort of Sierra Nevada. You might like to add this to the beginning or end of your holiday. Closer to us is the cross-country ski area of Puerto de la Ragua where there are marked trails and equipment hire.

Massage

Bethan, a professional massage therapist, joins the Pure Mountains team in 2010. She is qualified in sports, Thai and deep tissue massage and offers wonderful, rejuvenating bike-specific treatments at the farmhouse, at very reasonable rates. As a former aerialist and circus performer, she has first hand experience of aches and pains and how to alleviate them. If you feel like really treating yourself, Bethan also offers pampering herbal and aroma treatments.

Visiting Granada or Málaga

We recommend that, if you would like to visit historic Granada or beautiful Málaga, you add a day or two to the beginning or end of your trip. We can help you with recommendations for places to stay in both coities. In Granada, we particularly recommend the lovely self-catering apartment, Casa de las Granadas in the historic Albayzín quarter. Flights are available from the UK and several European cities to Granada airport, so you could fly into Málaga and out of Granada or vice versa. There are buses between Granada (but not Málaga) and Bérchules, or we can arrange a taxi for you. For more information see spain.info and andalucia.org web sites.

Vegging

In the communal sitting room we have a selection of books, magazines and board games.

Nerding

We have good mobile 'phone coverage at the farmhouse and WiFi access for guests bringing their own computers or other internet devices.

Climbing and Abseiling

We can arrange single-pitch and multi-pitch climbing outings with qualified instructors who provide the necessary equipment.

Beach

If you have your own hire car there are several good Mediterranean beaches within reach.
